Ohio Registered Agent

Ohio registered agents are required when registering to do business in Ohio.

What is an Ohio Registered Agent?

An Ohio registered agent is a business that is listed on your corporate paperwork with the state as responsible for accepting legal notices on your behalf. Ohio registered agents must have a real physical location in Ohio and be present at that address during normal business hours. Although most of the time a sheriff or process server will be delivering the notice to the Ohio resident agents address, mailing a letter to the person or business listed as the Ohio registered agent at the Ohio registered office address is legal proof that you have been notified, regardless of whether or not you received the notice.

The Ohio registered agents duty is to be available at the business address listed as the OH registered office address during normal business hours. Any mail from the state that has been returned to them will be sent to the Ohio resident agents address.

What types of businesses are required to have Ohio Registered Agents?

An Ohio LLC, out of state LLC, an Ohio corporation, an out of state corporation, a non-profit corporation or organization, limited partnership, limited liability partnership, or any other Ohio business entity is required to have an Ohio registered agent and Ohio registered office.
